Studying English has allowed me to learn to make connections between abstract and concrete concepts, create strong, logical arguments, and understand/work with various points of views. In addition, studying English has given me a better understanding of people and how people react to situations.

      Petition official intern

      Aug 2014 - May 2016
Writing and public speaking consultant level 3: master tutor

As a consultant with the University Writing Center, I had the opportunity to work with undergraduate, graduate, and international students to improve their written and verbal skills. These consultations ranged from revising undergraduate comparative essays, to editing highly technical dissertations written by graduate students. I worked at the UWC at a challenging time; I was attending college full time and was heavily involved with the Corps of Cadets and Fightin' Texas Aggie Band. Despite this I was able to work 25 hours a week and provide quality aid to students in need. This position challenged me to find creative and effective solutions to help others with their writing and speaking abilities. Show less

      Aug 2016 - Aug 2017
      English language arts teacher

I was responsible for educating 143 students in English 2, STAAR English, and Practical Writing Skills courses. I helped design effective and inclusive lesson plans that challenged students to prepare for the state end of course exam and meet state-aligned knowledge skills. English as a second language students, state exam re-testers, special education students, and students with special modifications made up 95% of my student population. Despite these challenges, I was able to garner a 58% end of course passing scores for my retesting population, and 92% of my ESL students met their projected language growth. 70% of my students who tested the TSI exam (a college entrance exam offered to sophomores for dual credit) passed. I additionally took on the task of coaching UIL Journalism during my first year. Two of my students advanced to the UIL Regional Meet after placing 1st and 4th at the 6A District Competition, beating out 30 other competitors. I left this position to live with my wife as she is a service member who was assigned to South Korea. Show less

As a Program Manager on Amazon's Global Military Affairs Talent Acquisition team, I wear many hats to enable the successful execution of Military Hiring initiatives across Amazon. In this role I have been exposed to new challenges in business operations, such as financial reporting, new program launches, and marketing experience. Responsibilities and highlights during this time include:-Funding approval for a 4 year, $10MM written proposal to expand Military Apprenticeship opportunities in new lines of business. -Managed and streamlined GMA's partnerships with minority Veteran Employment Organizations such as the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Sentinels of Freedom, & National Association of Minority Veterans resulting in 30% YoY hires of diverse military talent. -Developed a reporting mechanism to deliver budgeting and finance reporting to team leadership. Assumed the management and reporting for a $2.1MM team budget. -Successfully launched an AI enabled career matching platform to support Amazon's commitment to hire 100K Veterans and Military Spouses by 2024. This space is exciting as I am actively working with OpLign LLC to support the diversification of roles and enable military Veterans and their spouses to find meaningful careers at Amazon. Show less After being hired full-time as a program manager, I continued to streamline, standardize, and scale Amazon's partnership with the Hiring our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program. The Corporate Fellowship Program provides professional fellowship opportunities for transitioning service members and military spouses looking to find a new career. In this role I worked with TA stakeholders, Hiring Managers, and external program managers, to deliver a positive candidate experience. By eliminating complicated and unnecessary processes, I leveraged enterprise wide communication mechanisms to scale fellowships hosted by 116% YoY. Fellowship conversions, I.e. contracter to Full time employment, increased 150% YoY. Show less
