  I worked for The Institute of Risk Standards and Qualifications (iRSQ) that develops and promotes independent professional competency standards for financial risk. Through its signature qualification, the Institute certifies financial professionals who have demonstrated competency in applied risk management, including culture and behaviour.My role included researching and then creating a presentation on current competency standards within other business areas, namely accounting and law. I researched the following accounting qualifications: Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy and Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales, in order to evaluate the work required and length of time incorporated within these qualifications to successfully be competent in accounting. I also researched the fields of medicine and law to further understand the work and length of time to become competent in a specialised field. Show less

  Had the privilege of being invited to Camp Bastion in Afghanistan (Operation Herrick) as a group of 12 Saracens players and staff, for two days.The idea was to experience the life of the UK Armed Forces (as part of Armed Forces Day) and we were lucky enough to be shown different areas of service around the Camp, e.g. perimeter towers, rescuing casualties, operation rooms, the air field, artillery guns, weapons, aviation (including different types of aircraft and helicopters- including the apaches), the hospital, IED teams, drones and other areas. Not only were we shown the different areas but also witnessed demonstrations of likely events.In addition we were also shown the memorial, which was very humbling, and competed against the forces in different physical challenges.From a personal point of view it was an unbelievable experience, for which I feel very privileged to be allowed to be part of and see how amazing the people are who serve this country. They act as if it was only a job, when seeing it first hand you realise that words cannot describe what they do. Show less
