      Worked mainly on rescue digs ahead of developments, usually on active building sites. Recorded finds, some basic surveying, sample taking, drawings, photos,lots of heavy digging and sample washing.

      I worked in the VAT Advice Centre helping businesses and the public make sense of the various rules regarding VAT. It was more interesting than it might sound- we got a LOT of calls and VAT can be rather complex. I also manned reception and the switchboard.

      Environment casework officer

      Was case officer for appeals submitted under environmental legislation, ranging from Important hedgerows to landfill sites, including discharge consents and NVZs. Worked with the Planning Inspectors to ensure they had all the information required to make a sound decision. Used to deal with appeals against Environment Agency decisions- now I work for them ( as part of NRW)

      Was a full time volunteer for the Wildlife trust. My main role was planning assistant, but I also helped with the Avon Biodiversity Action Plan group, and helped with surveys and public education events.

      Until CCW became Natural Recourses Wales I worked in Swansea and Llandeilo assessing planning applications from three planning authorities for impacts upon Designated European sites, SSSIs, European and UK Protected Species, BAP habitats, and landscape. I also assisted the Swansea District team with applications for consents to carry out works on SSSIs.I was also asked to become the CCW liason with the WWBIC Local Record Center.And I took on adhoc roles, such as lead liason on the construction of the new section of the A477 St Clears to Red Roses road scheme. I consult the relevant specialists in our organisation where I need further advice and then put together our response.
