      • Provided fire protection, education, prevention and extinguishment to the citizens of the town of Leland. Visited elementary schools to teach children about the importance and practice of fire prevention. Visited elderly citizens and helped them to ensure all fire extinguishers and smoke detectors were up to date and in working order, i.e.; installing new batteries, checking dates etc.• Provided medical care to the severely injured and very ill. Rescued entrapped victims from a variety of hazardous environments and situations. Organized and helped at many health fairs offering free blood pressure checks to the public. Stood –by at high school football games to provide emergency care for injuries if needed. • Drew up pre-fire plans to ensure that the best route, equipment, apparatus, and supplies that would be most effective were in a state of readiness. Tested all fire hydrants in the service area, recorded all findings in a database. Maintained a rigorous schedule of thoroughly inspecting all station hoses on a quarterly and annual basis.•Daily checks of all apparatus/supplies and equipments on trucks to keep a state of readiness. Completed daily function checks and recorded findings of truck equipment. Maintained the truck maintenance records as well as other records.• Worked as part of a close team. Maintained close relationships and helped others maintain them, all as part of the team building experience and attitude needed in a firefighting atmosphere. • Commanded emergency scenes, delegated authority and job duties, to different departments as well as firefighters/EMT’s on my team to ensure all tasks, jobs, and aspects of an emergency situation were completely handled with the utmost care and professionalism.
