The company mainly focuses on the production of wires and rods from electrolytic copper and its alloys. The continuous casting department that I had worked for two weeks composes of three sub-departments which are anode casting, electrolysis, and continuous casting. I had a chance to observe these three departments closely. After two weeks, I wrote a report based on my observations to my superiors. Then, I had been moved to the R&D department. In this department, I had focused on the metallography of copper and its alloys. I had prepared metallographic specimens and created a reference catalog using stereo, and light microscopes for the R&D department of the company. The responsibilities were:- The metallographic specimen preparation by mounting, grinding, polishing, and etching,- To evaluate specimens by light and stereo microscopes,- Helping to determine the right etchant for specific Cu-alloys,- Helping to prepare in-house R&D catalog by taking pictures of microstructures.Had gained knowledge about:- Recycling of Cu by fire refining,- Purification of Cu by electrolysis, and the fundamentals of electrolysis,- The principles of continuous casting, and drawing,- Metallography of Cu and its alloys,- How to properly use light and stereo microscopes. The company focuses on rubber- and polymer-based fluid transfer system hoses, and pipes for the automotive industry. I had been present at the R&D Laboratory and had a chance to observe hose production closely. It was allowed to participate the company with the project about "The investigation and formulation of the effect of winding type, and frequency on the burst pressure of the pipe".Gained knowledge about:- The fundamentals of rubber and its types,- The rubber and the polyamide extrusion and forming,- The quality control tests which are tensile testing for different purposes, three-point bend testing, Izod pendulum impact testing, hose burst test, cleanliness testing, and high-temperature aging test.- The effect of aramid on the rubber hose,- The basic automotive standards. The company focuses on the production of catenary systems and manufactures cast-forged cantilevers, LSR type composite insulators, copper conductive accessories, automatic tensioning devices, and overhead line equipments. I had observed hot forging, heat treatment, and machining of AA6082-T6 and CuNi2Si alloys. It was allowed me to conduct experiments on AA6082 Al-alloy, and CuNi2Si.The experiments conducted were:- The microstructural difference between wrought, hot forged, and heat-treated bars of AA6082 to observe the effects of processes,- The application of T5 heat treatment to AA6082 to reduce manufacturing expenses and to compare with the T6,- The effect of cooling rate on the hardness of CuNi2Si alloy.Besides experiments, gained knowledge about:- Materials used in catenary systems,- The alloy types of aluminum and their heat treatment procedures,- Hot forging, and CNC machining,- LSR injection molding,- The basics of bronzes.
