  Worked as an insurance company examiner reviewing accounting entries done by Insurers regulated by the State to ensure that information was presented in the financial statements in accordance with statutory requirements and NAIC Accounting guidance (SSAP's). During this period, I was promoted 3 times and in later years, I was Examiner-in-Charge running exams as assigned. * For Examinations I was in charge of, I ensured that assignments to others were completed in a timely fashion and provided training as needed. I also prepared the report and made sure that the overall examination was conducted in a timely manner with the work done supporting any Report comments. * I provided training to new examiners on both the ACL and TeamMate software as well as our overall examination processes.* Wrote a manual outlining how to do reviews of reserves-related items as well as IT audits, and provided training to select examiners on same.   Captives Analyst

  During this period I worked in the Captives Division in a number of roles. As the Captives Supervising Financial Analyst, I was responsible for overseeing the work of 3 analysts and ensuring that analysis procedures were in place to ensure that analysis was done timely to maintain our accreditation status. As the Special Purpose Financial Company (SPFC) Analyst/Examiner, I helped review SPFC applications for licensure, as well as changes in business plan, and oversaw the analysis and examination of the SPFCs. Near the end of this period, I filled in for the Captives Supervising Analyst position, and reviewed analysis work by the Captives analysis area until a replacement was found. Show less

  Special & Technical Issues Manager

  * Responsible for monitoring assigned domestic insurers on a quarterly basis and reviewing all financial statement filings received to ensure they are operating in compliance with SC statutes/regulations. * Participate in Examination Planning by providing input from my Analysis regarding any financial or non-financial concerns noted on a Company; thereby helping to target the examination on areas of potential risks.* Manage consultants used to perform examinations of Special Purpose Financial Captives, ensuring exams are done in line with both state requirements and NAIC accreditation requirements. This ranges from reviewing examination budgets, and key workpapers as well as the final examination report. In addition, I review and approve all invoices for the examination.* Work on special projects as needed by Management. Prepare TeamMate templates for Analysts to use to create new analysis projects. Also provide training/help as needed on the use of TeamMate.* Monitor NAIC communications and other media sources to keep abreast of developments relating to our analysis processes and/or my assigned Companies. * Help ensure analysis work is done in accordance with Accreditation guidelines.
