  Emmaus Björkå is a charitable non-profit organisation, whose income comes from selling donated clothes, shoes and textiles.The project was to develop a container with more efficient logistics during the collection process, whilst further protecting the clothes from the harsh weather elements and increased problem from theft. Visually it was important to highlight the Emmaus Björkå brand, whilst compromising on the design to it approved to that of the Göteborg Urban Planners.This product is currently on trial production in the city of Gothenburg, with the plan replace the other previous models across Western Sweden in the near future. The KTP programme has gave me the opportunity to work with the University in testing and verifying results, as well as working closely within the industry to develop market knowledge.   AB Pneumatics are the UKs largest manufacturer of Seat Airsprings, and have shown continual growth in the shock absorber sleeves and Vibration Isolation Springs market. The company has seen increasing sales in the export market, including the manufacture of Donut Vibration Isolation Springs for OEM's across Europe and USA.Responsibilities and Achievements:- Designed the layout and process flow for the recent move to a brand new, purpose built factory. This was carried out using a range of lean process monitoring and measurement tools to analyse the current state and future state of each area. All of the tooling and fixtures used for the processes are unique and specifically built for purpose. The company has increased its production output by 20-30% than in the previous factory without the need to increase staff numbers.- The largest market growth for the company is in the production of shock absorber sleeves for the automotive industry. From the initial communication with the customer to produce samples to specification, each new sleeve is developed in-house. This includes the design (2D and 3D CAD) of the manufacturing equipment and processes required, communicating with the external manufacturing engineers, and creating ISO:9001 quality documentation. - In order to surpass customer expectations, the materials and processes used are continually improved and tested in house. This allows for a better understanding of how the products actually operate, and gives the customers a stronger trust in the product. Show less
