      As Executive Director - Operational Risk, I was responsible for 2LOD oversight across several corporate functions, leading virtual team of c.10 across geographies. Key achievements include:Implemented an industry leading operational risk framework across various business / functions including Treasury (Liquidity, Capital and Asset & Liability Management) Global Research, Mergers & Acquisition, Investor Relations and Legal.Met tight timelines to meet Board and Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) commitments for delivery of the operational risk framework implementation.Worked closely with external consultants to improve the control framework around the Bank of England stress testing processes within the Treasury Function.Provided second line operational risk oversight across various business / functions to ensure residual risks were accurately assessed, control performance deficiencies identified, and treatment plans designed.Completed gap analysis for portfolio of business / functions against the control standards for mitigating bribery & corruption and conduct related risks and fraud.       As Chief Control Officer, I reported to the CFO and led a global team of c.20 individuals. I was responsible for building and leading the Finance Controls team for HSBC UK to raise the bar around control design. I was Secretariat and Chair delegate (for CFO) for HSBC UK, Finance Control Committee and for HSBC UK SOX Control Committee. Key achievements include:Successfully leading the remediation of several SOX deficiencies across Retail Banking, Commercial Banking and Finance within an aggressive timeline, including data quality, customer pricing, and model related controls.Setting the standard of various Non-Executive Committee packs and ensured alignment with Group standards.Defined the 3LOD for HSBC UK finance and successfully implemented. Improving the overall control environment of HSBC UK receiving commendation.Built credible relationships with the Retail Bank and Commercial Bank and supported the Exec committee to deliver regulatory remediation, to demonstrate operational resilience via process mapping material business processes and ensuring effective controls. I held material risk taker responsibility as first line of defence to support the Executive Committee to discharge their first line responsibilities. Key achievements include: Innovated the regulatory control remediation approach for Customer redress issues, leading to accelerated closure of issues.Successfully influenced Board and Audit Committee to change approach to Board papers, designing and piloting new approach which improved the Committee dialogue around controls. Facilitated and led team transition from process managers to Risk & Control managers increasing the effectiveness of the team.Transforming the conduct risk frameworks resulting in greater ownership of Conduct within 1LOD. leading to delivery of good conduct & control outcomes for key stakeholders.Chaired special Business Issue Remediation Forum (behalf of the CEO) leading to 30% reduction in open issues over 4 mths.Improving the content of the of the UK Control Committee meeting packs leading to better engagement of the Committee.
