      Conducted original research looking at gastrointestinal tract histology of pigs that have been fed milk with human lactoferin. Specifically, I looked at the number of eosinophils, a type of white blood cell, in the villi in the duodenum and ileum. I also stained slides by Immunohistochemistry that will be used to analyse location and relative numbers of lactoferrin receptors within the pig gastrointestinal tract and ran statistical analysis. Laboratory experience including:histological examination, DNA isolation, PCR amplification, Southern and Western blot techniques, slide prep, mount and stain, immunohistochemistry, necropsy, assisting in the care of goats, pigs and cows, taking blood samples.
