      John Knox Center is the home of the River Ridge Environmental Education Program. Established in 1994, River Ridge is a top education program offering hands on programs for a variety of grade levels and sizes. Day or overnight programs are available that incorporate hands-on and experiential learning.

      Camp Burgess for Boys and Camp Hayward for Girls are traditional brother-sister overnight camps located on opposite shores of Spectacle Pond, with one Co-ed Week option in August. Our separate co-ed Teen Program for ages 12-17 offers overnight summer adventure trips, service learning and counselor-in-training programs as well as other year-round opportunities.

We partner with youth organizations in Memphis and Nashville like ScoutReach, Youth Villages, and Boys and Girls Clubs to provide underserved kids with a chance to experience nature in a meaningful way, an opportunity they might not otherwise have.

      The Belle Meade Plantation was founded in 1807 by John Harding, a prominent man in thoroughbred industry, but the Belle Meade house was not commissioned until 1820. Used as a breeding ground for thoroughbreds, the Belle Meade house served as a home to three generations of Hardings and Jacksons. It wasn’t until 1906 that a weak economy forced the families to sell the entire Belle Meade Plantation.
