From the dystopian scenario made of rubble and waste created by the artist Alexander Bavard, the performance “People of Ruins” proposes as illegitimate children of industry, native citizens who investigate underground culture and the possibility of expressing an opinion that is divergent from the dominant system. Cascinet AgroHub
Aug 2020 - Nov 2020Art CuratorI curated the exhibition “Pensieri Ancora Possibili” that takes shape at the Cascina Sant’Ambrogio in Milan, which became famous as one of the first women’s monasteries, where the nuns fled in 1162 AD when Barbarossa destroyed the city. Today, the property has been transformed into a cultural AgroHub, Cascinet, which implements participatory urban regeneration projects, putting citizens and the local community at the center. The exhibition’s research investigates ‘new possible thoughts,’ narratives that are unknown but essential to begin imagining viable futures on a planet that is now irreparably damaged. The artists in the exhibition tell their stories with immersive installations designed to be observed and walked through. Modular structures look to plants’ organic and inclusive architecture, where there is no inside and outside but a habitat embedded within becoming. The works are not limited to the will of the artist who arranges them because they are continually modified when encountering other living species, such as molds, animals, or plants.Artists: Camilla Alberti, Federico de Lorentis, PSICO.LOBO, Tsamani Tovar and VerySery. PSICO.LOBO
Mar 2021 - Mar 2021Curator of the Art Therapy Workshop "Sano Come Un Pesce"For the Milano Digital Week 2021, PSICO.LOBO presented Sano Come Un Pesce workshop aimed at exploring the emotional experiences that arise in the controversial relationship between the individual and the city.Sano Come Un Pesce focuses on sharing therapeutic tools such as the clinical doodle technique and the digital, thus understood as an inclusive and cultural space. The doodle proved to be an ingenious device to interpellate and share the emotional experiences of the participating group, especially in these times, given the depersonalizing tendencies of cities and the absence of sociality caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The workshop was preceded by a virtual dialogue with the public on the collective's IG page through the ''Prefer'' format. The online survey showed the need and desire to collectively invest in more sustainable, ecological, and consequently habitable cities. With the contribution of Dr.and Psychologist Virginia Roghi, Greta Capelli, Serena Monaco. Corneliani S.p.A.
May 2021 - Jun 2022On the occasion of the launch of the SS23 collection and Milan Design Week 2022, Corneliani is hosting the artistic research Unbinding Creatures by Camilla Alberti, which can be seen for the first time in Milan after the exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi - Florence. Let's imagine for a moment that we are stepping into a time machine. We are still in Casa Corneliani, but with a bit of imagination, we have been catapulted into the future and what we see in front of us are the relics of the present time. A large creature towers in the center of the room; it holds within it the typical elements of the contemporary. Like explorers of the future, if we approach the 'huge fossil,' we can discover shells, branches, lichens, or lignicolous fungi that, in an unlikely but authentic dance, converse with hydraulic pipes, power steering, and bicycle sprockets. After a careful inspection at the production site in Mantova (Italy), the artist conceived a new ad hoc Organism (no. 25), the result of an encounter with the textile workers and the company's waste materials. Why Matter Matters? is the title of a project conceived on the threshold between art and fashion that asks us to pay attention to Matter and the memory stored in it through a play on words. Can matter be the key to answering the critical issues of the present? Show less To enhance the Corneliani brand's choices of ecological production, the Sardinian-Piedmontese artist SCERBO (Biella, 1984) picks three elements for the installation UltraCapi: oak barks, cherry tree branches, and metal pipes. These materials, of natural and anthropic origin, are the fruit of urban scouting and exploration in the Piedmont woods through a creative survey of the context. Thanks to these SCERBO creates three sculptural elements delicately placed on the heads of three Corneliani mannequins. Crowns are commonly associated with social responsibilities (be they derived from temporal or spiritual power); these headgears invoke environmental responsibility in the face of an urgency that can wait no longer. With UltraCapi, SCERBO creates a habitat, a scenography that oscillates between the physical dimension of the sculptural and pictorial elements explicitly designed for Palazzo Durini and the virtual dimension through a video art intervention that guarantees the digital fruition of the work. Show less Corneliani renewed its commitment to sustainability by collaborating with the italian emerging artist Federico de Lorentis (1994, Galatina) and joining together the capsule collection with low environmental impact, featuring garments in natural and organic fibers, with a consequent reduction in CO2 emissions and waste with an immersive contemporary art installation. Federico de Lorentis creates “Forests of Thread” composed of over 300km of silk and cotton thread, painstakingly spun and suspended in vertical strips from the high ceiling of the main hall. The artistic operation provides the exclusive use of worn-out yarn discarded by Corneliani and its suppliers, which is re-assembled and enhanced by the artist to promote a respectful attitude towards the planet that hosts us.The artist has worked by weaving a series of unprecedented relationships between Corneliani’s parent company and the entire production chain, a sort of collective word-of-mouth to help find the expired and “throw-away”thread, because a sustainable attitude always stems from the sincere reflections that are closest to us, before touching on the significant issues that afflict the planet.Like any other industrial sector, fashion cannot avoid environmental responsibility, which becomes an imminent urgency to which the entire economic-productive system. Fahrenheit 39
Nov 2021 - Nov 2021WriterI was selected for the art book fair Fahrenheit 39 with my recent research “Plan B for Cultural Institutions - Museum Beyond its Walls”.My theoretical project (that is also my master's thesis) aims at the fundamental process of awareness-raising made by cultural institutions through the formulation of a “Plan B” to use if the state of emergency will be perennial and the accompanying crisis intermittent. Overcoming the museum’s physical boundaries to fit the urban and natural contexts allows cultural workers to embrace unprecedented public types, which never before had expressed interest in culture. Therefore, the delocalization of cultural activities will enable institutions to have an active and dynamic role concerning the context and communities where they are based. Show less

Istituto Svizzero
Mar 2022 - Jun 2022Art curatorI curated the exhibition and public program of “Re_g(u)ard_e” at Spazio Gamma in Milan, together with Irene Biolchini. Exhibiting artists: Matthew Attard, Meloe Sapphire (in collaboration with Rafael Kuoto and J.A Santschi), Stefano Non, with the participation of Sergio Giusti. The name of the exhibition plays with the term guarde (intended as guardian), the verb regard (to consider), and the French verb regarde (to look), trying to unhinge the limits of the visual and the too frequent association between gaze and judgment. In the works of the international artists in the exhibition we see a new way of understanding the faze: no longer an automatic exercise - and the first instrument for the formulation of a judgment - but care, attention, poetry. With urgency, the artists rethink and update contemporary mythology in the light of the absolute technical deployment in which we live, poetry and incommunicability replace narration and the detail reveals the whole without describing it.Supported by: Istituto SvizzeroScientific Partners: Edinburgh College - University of Edinburgh, of Art and University of MaltaIn collaboration with Galleria Michela RizzoThanks to: US Holocaust Memorial MuseumMedia Partner: Made in Mind Magazine, where (in the issue #24) I wrote an article entitled “The chivalrous adventures of Spazio Gamma" Show less

The Italian National Pavilion is supported by the Embassy of Italy in Korea, Quadriennale di Roma, and the European Media Art Platform, co-founded by the European Union.Entitled "Che cosa sogna l’acqua quando dorme?", the pavilion exhibited the works of five Italian artists: Camilla Alberti, Agnes Questionmark, Yuval Avital, Marco Barotti, and Fabio Roncato. Artists invite us to abandon our own anthropocentric perspective to enter a new realm of possibilities that are whispered by the dreaming water, asking us to reflect on the symbolism that nurtures our imaginative vocabulary, nudging us to look at the conceptual architectures of our present and future. Through a suggested immersive path, we learn of the ways in which the act of becoming is reflected in several aspects of our current world and embodied in our worldviews: sometimes is a slow process of erosion, other times is a revolutionary uprising; in order to transform at times we need to allow a period of static distance, acknowledging the current status of things, absorbing the results of previous decisions; other times we take action throughout our imagination and the future appears with new shapes and hybrid possibilities.Supported by:• Embassy of Italy in Korea• Fondazione La Quadriennale di Roma• European Media Art Platform, co-founded by the European UnionPartners:• F&B Partner: Illy, Acqua Lauretana• Institutional Partner: Seoul Institute of the Arts• Digital & Experience Partner: Particle• Sound Partner: Bang & Olufsen Show less

PSICO.LOBO
Nov 2022 - nowAs a curator, I collaborate with PSICO.LOBO. It is an interdisciplinary collective based in Milan that, in its practice, seeks to negotiate a meeting point between psychology, visual arts, and performance, as well as between digital culture and the contemporary debate that accompanies it. The collective aims to create artistic workshops that lead to inclusive and communitarian thinking on issues such as identity, intimacy, and sexuality experienced in physical and virtual reality. PSICO.LOBO is mainly dedicated to experimental workshops focusing on online and offline corporeality through the realization of performances, exhibitions, and projects in the virtual world. Defining the idea of a digitally-connected community, PSICO.LOBO understands art and psychology as a space for social experimentation. Show less In the sex-shop Erotika Boutique in Porta Venezia (Milano), PSICO.LOBO presented the workshop “Emozioni a scarabocchi”, in collaboration with Virgin and Martyr Cultural Association. The aim was to promote and spread sexual, socio-emotional and digital education. If D. Winnicott deepens the clinical scribble concerning children, contemporary psychology also traces its extraordinary potential in dialogue with adulthood. PSICO.LOBO decided to use this technique to work with groups, understood as complex systems with significant transformative potential, joining an artistic language with the language of psychoanalytic, psychodynamic psychology. The workshop becomes a collective experience, with unknown souls thinking intensely about individual suffering, of which they share only the doodle. The transformative clinical doodle thus creates a safe space that encourages group dialogue and the sharing of intimacy through a free association of images or thoughts. The exact manner in which each participant returns their doodle to the audience differs in gestures and posture. Show less

BNBIZ
Nov 2022 - Nov 2022Art curatorIn November 2022 I curated the urban art installation and performance of artist Clara Scola, entitled “La buona Ernestina, ovvero la fanciulla educata”, in reference to one of the most used home economics manuals in Italy in the years of the Gentile reform, when the teaching of this subject was imposed on all girls in primary and secondary school. The artist was a guest at BNBIZ Coworking Hotel for the artistic residency period dedicated to this project. On the occasion of the international day for the elimination of male violence against women (25 November), I asked Clara Scola to decontextualize the object of the performative act (the housework) and to propose it again as an intervention in the form of a traveling performance, involving the artist in cleaning five symbolic places of Fiorenzuola d'Arda (near Piacenza). In this way, the performative act, deprived of a conscious spectator and lowered into the public dimension - without the codes and superstructures that normally act as a filter in a more conventional space such as a gallery or museum - acquires new strength both in content and in enjoyment; it triggers an immediate reaction which during the performance saw people almost instinctively joining the procession that winds through the city.Patronage: Municipality of Fiorenzuola d'ArdaSponsor: BNBIZ Coworking Hotel Show less

Corneliani S.p.A.
Dec 2022 - Jan 2023Eucalyptus, palms, willows, and bamboo dance in the space for the 4th edition of the collaboration between Corneliani and contemporary art. On the occasion of the launch of the FW23 collection, Italian-Slovenian artist Luca Vanello has created an immersive installation entitled "In punta di piedi”/“On tiptoe" and composed of different plant species that twirl in the central hall of Casa Corneliani. Thanks to the artist's cooperation with botanical gardens and greenhouses, each plant comes from diverse and distant geographical locations that, in this space, embrace each other for the first time. The green - familiar in the relationship with the plant species - is replaced by different shades of white, obtained through eliminating chlorophyll. Without chlorophyll, plants live in suspended time, without growth or decay. This condition, which is impossible in the ordinary natural cycle, allows a close encounter with the different species, and details that are rare to notice when immersed in their original context appear to the eye. Today, when time seems to be running ever faster and work is ever more impetuous, it is essential to protect moments of stillness. Halting the natural cycle of plants, literally putting it 'on pause,' dialogues with one of the crucial declinations of Corneliani's FW23 collection, also designed to accompany moments of relaxation from the daily hustle and bustle. Maltabiennale.art
May 2023 - nowArtistic Director and Head CuratorI am directing and curating Malta Biennale’s first edition, together with the curatorial team, made up of Elisa Carolllo (Curator), Emma Mattei (Arts and culture Journalist) and Nigel Baldacchino (Exhibition Designer).maltabiennale.art 2024 (entitled Insulaphilia) will take place under the patronage of UNESCO World International Heritage. maltabiennale.art seeks to delve into the concept of identity in a multiple and plural dimension, where the encounter and exchange with artists' vision and other cultures is its cornerstone, along with a dutiful and painful awareness of the trauma of colonisation. A participatory configuration of invisible networks across the Mediterranean will connect the East to the West and the North to the South to stimulate exchange, vision and unwavering trust in individual and collective transformation. The insular thinking (Insulaphilia) underlying maltabiennale.art hopes to defuse the postcard-like imagery of the Mediterranean. The contemporary artists, called to exhibit in the UNESCO’s cultural treasures of the island, will build an intimate relationship with these locations and will chronicle a sea that unites in the face of historical fractures—those forces that extract-exploit- instrumentalise Mare Nostrum. It is organized by: • Heritage Malta • MUŻA - National Museum of Art • Arts Council MaltaIn cooperation with: • Visit Malta • Festivals Malta • MCAST - The Malta College of Arts, Science & Technology • Spazju Kreattiv - Malta's Centre for Creativity • VCA - Valletta Cultural Agency • Malta Libraries • Malta Government (Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade, Ministry for Gozo, and Ministry for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government) • Malta Tourism Authority Show less

Acre Magazine
Jun 2023 - Oct 2023I was part of the October 2023 publication "LA CURA", that was all about curation. With my favorite anthropologist - Dr. Margherita Valentini - we wondered if widespread museology could be considered a curation practice.Shouldn't museums, conservators, and incubators of culture par excellence, provide socio-cultural coordinates in the face of concrete issues, such as migration processes or environmental crises? The museum is a living, relational place at the service of society, a forge of knowledge and critical thinking; it must reflect contemporary complexity and, for this, needs a new role and a new face. Fondazione Elpis
Jun 2023 - Sept 2023Art curatorI was curator of the 4th edition of “Una Boccata d’Arte - Emilia Romagna” a contemporary art project spread throughout Italy, promoted by Fondazione Elpis in collaboration with Galleria Continua, with the participation of Threes Productions. The project highlighted the unique characteristics of small towns through the unprecedented gaze of the artists. Every year, 20 villages throughout Italy, one for each region, welcome 20 Italian and International artists of different ages, backgrounds, and practices. Invited to spend a short period of residence, the artists create 20 works related to the territory and traditions of the local communities. In Emilia-Romagna, the village of Travo (PC) hosted the project “La montagna è ancora in movimento”, by artist Raghad Saqfalhait (Palestina, 1996), coordinated by Sofia Baldi Pighi and produced with the patronage of the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Municipality of Travo and the Province of Piacenza.“La montagna è ancora in movimento” showed attention both to the stories of the inhabitants of Travo and to the area’s millenary geological history. The intervention gave life to a Sentiero d’Artista (Artist’s Path), a physical and mental itinerary made of a series of sculptures, from materials of different hardness, from the plasticity of clay to the solidity of marl, and a video mapping the affections of the inhabitants of Travo, made after consulting local archives and performing a series of interviews, based on the conviction that landscape and community are symbiotic organisms, capable of influencing one another.Una Boccata d'Arte and XNL Piacenza organized the interdisciplinary talk, between art and geology, curated by Sofia Baldi Pighi, with the artist, Claudia Losi, Paola Nicolin and Sergio Segadelli. I also took part in the public lecture "Borghi Invisibili - Manifesto sentimentale e politico per salvare i Borghi d’Italia", with the author Anna Rizzo and the artist Raghad Saqfalhait, at Teatro Organico Perduca, Travo.
