      The Ivy League Connection is a non-profit that promotes a college-going culture in the West Contra Costa Unified School District (WCCUSD). It awards full scholarships to the most qualified applicants to attend summer pre-college programs at top universities across the country.I was one of five selected for the Summer@Brown program, where I studied Techniques in DNA-Based Biotechnology. There I gained experience & practical skills in a laboratory setting for the first time and culminated my work researching X-Linked Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (X-SCID) for my gene therapy project. I also blogged about my experiences.Upon my return, I advocated for the ILC and helped other students interested in the program with their essays and prepare for their interview as part of their application.
