      Research Fellow

I spent two consecutive years working in Dr. Wehr’s lab at the Louis Calder Center in Armonk, NY. During my time in his lab I focused mostly on ecological research, specifically how environmental factors affect the presence or absence of an extremely rare brown algae in western Connecticut. With this data I gave a presentation at the Fordham summer research symposium.

    • Columbia University in the City of New York

      Apr 2017 - Sept 2017
      Child Psychiatric Epidemiology Group Intern

My study group gathered data on young adults who were 12 years of age or younger on 9/11/2001. The goal of the study was to determine how stressful events affect both mental and physical health. This was a long-term epidemiological study that assessed toxic exposure from 9/11 allowing us to examine resulting comorbidities of physical and mental health outcomes. In addition to measures of lung function, this study includes psycho-social assessments and the collection of biologicals. With this information, we could determine the epigenetic factors between stressful environments and genes. Show less

      Aug 2017 - Jan 2018
      Research Assistant

At Albert Einstein, I worked with a PhD student who was conducting aging research in the molecular pharmacology lab . The goal of our project was to determine which cell types and brain regions in Drosophila (fruit fly) are most influential in the process of aging through immune gene knockdown or gene over expression. We used this knowledge to determine which regions of the brain are most significant to aging.
