      As a US Navy First Class damage control-man assigned to US Navy vessels, I was responsible for maintaining watertight integrity, emergency equipment associated with firefighting and Shipboard flooding; plumbing repairs; welding fabrication and repairs; chemical, biological, and nuclear warfare detection and decontamination. Also, train others on board ship of firefighting and repairs of damage to its infrastructure. I was also involved with the engineering watches and associated duties, since it is an engineering rating. Show less

      As Operation Captain of the Fire Code Unit, I supervise three (3) Fire Lieutenants and ensure fire safety by adherence to the city’s Fire Code. This is accomplished through the inspection of properties for variance requests to deviate from the requirements of the Fire Code, fire hazard complaints and fire safety inspections. The unit also performs a complete revision of the city’s fire code every three years. They also perform plan review of fire protection equipment and systems for new construction and renovations upon request, review and approve plans for exhibitions and trade shows, and review and approve requests for the use of fireworks and explosives.
