  I was responsible for running an 8-12 person consulting team at Core. The team delivered to their numbers for all 13 years that I was in charge. I was responsible for ensuring the consultants had enough work and were looked after while onsite. My responsibilities also included design and build of Core’s internal networking, perimeter security and systems. During this time, I also undertook select assignments with our customers including: Government Agency – Enterprise Architect responsible for all major system decisions including communication modernisation, international communications, major system refresh and design/build of high security internet facing systems. Energy Company – Initially SAN replacement Project Manager then member of the Architecture team responsible for the Storage horizontal and the Corporate Services vertical. Major achievements included migration from IBM Shark SAN to EMC DMX1000, implementation of Oracle RAC cluster and outsourcing the Treasury application to a SaaS provider. Government - Assigned to a Government organisation immediately after a failed project as part of the “clean-up crew”. My responsibilities included building and verifying a Solaris software stack to port the mainframe applications to open systems, High Availability architecture for the above and design / build of various interfaces to other government departments.   My major workstream as the Aviarc CTO was to bring our SaaS Development Environment to the market. A lack of funding meant that I ended up designing and building the platform myself on Amazon Web Services. The platform utilised Docker technology in conjunction with layered security to provide a cost effective, reliable and scalable solution. I also continued my customer consulting activities half-time over this period and provided quality assurance for other architects.

  Core Technology was acquired by Certus Solutions in 2015. I was an integral part of the sale process and took responsibility for settling staff into roles at their new employer. I continued with Certus Solutions in the role of Practice Manager – Cloud Transformation. This role included: • Managing resource utilisation, profitability • Technical Leadership • Mentoring and training staff in Cloud technology • Kubernetes awareness training including “Contain Yourself” seminars and flux.io presentation to the Wellington CNCF meetupIn addition to leading this practice I also undertook selected client engagements including: Lines Company / Startup – Ongoing Kubernetes advisory for the design and implementation of a multi-tenant IoT solution for Low Voltage Monitoring. Solution includes Azure AKS, Istio, Chirpstack and Kafka. Quote from customer – “the team really enjoys working with Harry and is getting a lot of value out of his expertise”. Health Equipment – Brought in to shore up the design of Kubernetes clusters for running customers client request system. Implemented better Kubernetes practices and security to protect APIs on Azure AKS. Also implemented devops pipelines using Azure DevOps and Flux for automated builds and deployments. Technology Startup – Design and build of Kubernetes based solution for delivering the client’s anti-piracy solution. This solution utilised a microservices architecture with full Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery integration and Istio for the service mesh. The client recently stated that “they could not have done it without Harry’s expertise” Government Agency – 2 years.
