  • Experience

    • Carleton University

      May 2014 - Sept 2014
      Undergraduate Summer Student Researcher

      • Analyzed the failure mechanism of a carbon fiber - epoxy matrix composite rowing oar using a variety of NDT methods including SEM and EDS analysis.• Enriched my writing capabilities by producing a scientific paper (under review)• Learned to work with minimal supervision by having a supervisor acting in an advising role, rather than assigning daily tasks to perform.• Practiced some advanced functions of MS Excel by tabulating the *.csv data of an accelerometer so it could be analysed. • Meliorated my CAD abilities by modelling the oar using a 3D scanner for the paddle and applying a shaft with a varying cross-sectional shape.• Acquired the basics of FEA through a mesh sensitivity study used to optimize the maximum stress computation on a rowing oar. • Carleton University

      May 2016 - Sept 2016
      Undergraduate Summer Student Researcher

      • Obtain the USRA grant from NSERC to investigate into X-ray Digital Image Correlation (DIC). • Work under minimal supervision.• Enhance communication skills through weekly meetings to update the progress of the research.• Implemented a Matlab Open-sourced code to quantify the strain on a sample under deformation. • Enforced my presentation skills by updating the research group on work and the applicability of the researched literature• 3D Printed a CAD generated pattern-die to generate samples to be imaged using a flat-panel X-ray system.•Learnt some of Matlab advanced tools by having to implement an MEX compiler to input C++ scripts into Matlab.•Deepened my understanding of C++ by having to analyse the code to troubleshoot the whole program. • Carleton University - iTAD

      Sept 2016 - Apr 2017
      Arm Group Lead

      • Arm Group Lead in the capstone project iTAD (intelligent tele-assistive device)• Broadened my team management skills by directing a team of seven students in my capstone project to produce the required product.• Improved my presentation skills through weekly presentations for my fourth year project, by providing updates to the whole group regarding the progress/issues encountered in design and integration of the arm.• Enhanced my report writing skills through my fourth-year project by preparing detailed technical memos and structured project reports.• Strengthened my CAD abilities by designing, assembling and generating proper drawings of parts and assemblies on Creo.• Obtained machine shop training on milling, drilling, band-sawing and shearing when manufacturing the elbow bracket for the robot. • Carleton University

      May 2017 - Sept 2017
      Undergraduate Summer Student Researcher

      • Design and Building of an X-Ray lab for High Impact Spectroscopy with a very restricted space.• Developed further my interpersonal skills by collaborating with a graduate student on the design of the X-ray lab setup.• Practiced my planning skills by having to schedule and budget the design and construction of the lab by taking into account delays due to suppliers, shipping, and machine shop line-ups.• Strengthened my 3D modelling skills by building a model for the supporting structures of the X-Ray system.• Enriched my machining and drawing skills through manufacturing and building a new lab for X-Ray imaging.• Made use my analytical skills to determine whether to manufacture or purchase components for the lab by considering manufacturability, time and cost.
