      Pediatric Physical Therapist

As a pediatric therapist treating in a traditionally orthopaedic outpatient clinic, I would frequently juggle adult orthopaedic and post-operative patients, often at the same time as actively working on gross motor skills or range of motion with some of my smaller little friends. As a new-grad, I inherited a partial pediatric caseload and in the past three years have grown it into a self-sustaining full-time pediatric position - a challenge which I enjoyed and gave me a unique insight into the medical landscape. This has meant that I have needed to take a more active role in the administrative aspect of sustaining a caseload such as submitting for authorization from Georgia Medicaid and CMOs, scheduling my patients, calling referrals to schedule, and marketing to providers. In this position I worked with ages 5 days and older and with a variety of short and long term diagnoses such as torticollis, ASD, cerebral palsy, developmental delays, Prader Willi, JRA, etc. I was responsible for ordering DME and mobility equipment as well as referring for AFO/SMO casting by orthotists. As the only pediatric PT for PT Solutions in the North Georgia region, I gave inservices and served as a mentor for other clinicians regarding pediatric diagnoses and specific cases. I have had the privilege of serving as clinical instructor for three physical therapy students from UTC and Brenau Universities. Show less
