      Oxford Young Ambassadors

Oxford University set up a course for students in secondary schools to improve their presentation and communication skills called 'Oxford Young Ambassadors. I was very fortunate to be chosen to participate. Over the 2 years (aged 13 to 15), I improved my speaking, presentation and literature skills immensely and also got to stay at Oxford University and take part in various lectures from Greek to Chemistry. Apprentice M.A.I.T. Technician

At Oxford Space Systems, I trained as a Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration, Testing, (M.A.I.T) Technician where I assembled deployable mechatronic structures for Space. This included manufacturing, assembling and testing the products that were being developed from start to finish through the company. As part of my apprenticeship I studied at the Manufacturing Training Centre (MTC) where I completed my Level 4 in Precision Engineering. Several of the projects I worked on included assembling and testing carbon fibre, deployable antennas. My college project was the design and manufacture of a carbon fibre bass guitar. Show less

      National Apprenticeship Competition

In my first year of my Aerospace Apprenticeship I participated in a competition called 'National Apprenticeship Competition'. With a team of 7 we had to design and develop a transportable vehicle for Mars. With only 6 months to design and develop from scratch, we created a vehicle for Mars that had three floors, that could accommodate 8 astronauts and could survive 45 martian sols. In managing the team I was responsible for coordinating all the information and organising the final report. I also supported each member of the team with different research areas from life support to the mechanical side. Through our wonderful team work, we ended up with first place in the 2018 Cranfield National Apprenticeship Competition. Show less

Throughout my apprenticeship I became an Oxlep Ambassador. With this role I travelled to different schools presenting and teaching about my career and future career opportunities. I also participated in talking libraries promoting apprenticeships. This was an opportunity for students to gain knowledge about apprenticeships, engineering or even about their next steps in their education.

In the 3rd year of my apprenticeship, The Guardian Newspaper gave me the wonderful opportunity of having a mini documentary made about my life and my Aerospace career. It was such a motivational and rewarding experience.

There was prize money at the end that could go to any charity platform. I ended up investing mine into Mars workshops for the Galilee Foundation students. Show less

Cornbury Music Festival - Jul 2017 I had the remarkable opportunity of performing at Cornbury Music Festival. At my secondary school, it had a competition called 'Battle of the Bands'. My band and I performed at this competition and ended up winning. This brought on the endless hours of rehearsals while studying for my GCSE's. After all the hard work and exams, it finally brought the amazing day that we performed at Cornbury Festival. I had to learn to sing and play guitar within two months while also playing the piano and drums!
