  I had the opportunity to observe and participate in the operations of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at the University of Texas San Antonio. As the designated trauma center for the region, the unit plays a vital role in the care and treatment of critically injured patients. During my visit, I was able to gain valuable experience in taking patient histories, conducting physical examinations, and following up with inpatients during their recovery.   The Vascularized Composite Tissue Allotransplantation laboratory was the setting for research on whole eye transplantation and extremity transplantation. Techniques applied include Anatomical and Histological Studies, High Resolution Non-invasive Imaging Modalities, Surgical Dissections, Microsurgery, Corrosion Casting. The research aimed to deepen understanding of the biology of transplantation and develop new treatments. I had a proven ability to conduct independent high-quality research, skills in laboratory techniques and microsurgical techniques, and had participated in collaborations and presented work at conferences. I am eager to continue my research career in a new environment and believe I will be able to make meaningful contributions to the field. Show less
