  Work Experience as a student

  I had Monday to Friday (1 week) at UMC Architects, who are an Architectural practice in Newark, they specialise in industrial architecture. With significant experience in Distribution & Logistics, Energy & Waste, Transport, Manufacturing, Food and Drink and Specialist Commercial Projects. I had this week of experience to learn a little more of an insight about Architecture. I firstly had to choose a greenfield site in my home village at the start of the week using google maps. I then stated all the site constraints such as overhead powerlines, nearby houses, environment, etc. I used an X-Ref background generated from google maps and placed into AutoCAD to design many Industrial Units onto the plot of land, I had to think about car parks, entrances and exits, main roads but also the environment. After I designed the greenfield site, I converted the AutoCAD document into a photoshop app and filled my design with colour. Everyone in the office were really impressed with my efforts and congratulated me at the end of the week when I left. Show less
