Using mortality records linked with the New Zealand longitudinal census, I found that:- While lower SEP over adulthood is associated with higher mortality across indicators/cohorts, single measures pre-mortality follow-up were often as effective at predicting or mediating mortality as repeated measures. - 40–50% of the inequality between Māori & European NZers is explained by Europeans' better SEP.- For most NZers, religious affiliation is associated with 10-15% higher odds of mortality after controlling for demographic, economic and health variables Show less

Asians have double the prevalence of Bachelor’s degrees of any other large ethnic group in New Zealand. For people of all ethnicities, educational attainment is positively associated with income, but in all qualification categories at the 2013 Census, Asian New Zealanders were earning markedly less than their European, Māori or Pacific Islander counterparts. This investigation uses 2013 New Zealand Census data to create explanatory models that investigate the factors related to this anomalous difference. Show less

      Data Ambassador

I develop and analyse surveys for business, education and not-for-profit groups as well as being able to tackle a wide range of data and analytic challenges in commercial and academic contexts. Why "data ambassador"? While teaching statistics tutorials over the last few years I found myself telling students to be "good ambassadors" for their data. This means being able to display and communicate insights at both a high technical level, and in ways that laypeople can benefit from. As I started developing my consulting role, I found that this was the perfect way to describe my business philosophy. Show less
