Wealth Manager has once again scoured the UK private client investment management industry to identify the young stars that are really starting to make their mark. Now in its seventh edition, Top 30 Under 30 was more competitive than ever this year, with more than 210 applicants, which set a new record. The quality of the applications also keeps on rising, making it a very tough task to whittle them down to just 30. All are excelling in their jobs and have worked hard to build the knowledge and qualifications that have seen them advance in their fields so quickly. The select list is based on a combination of professional qualifications, with an ever-growing number having attained either CFA charterholder status or the chartered wealth manager designation, and in some cases both. We also consider their academic achievements and the importance of the role that they play at their current companies. This includes personally running client money, being members of different investment committees or other ways in which they influence their businesses day to day.We also learn about their best and worst investment calls and their current favourite funds. But it is not all just about work and, for a bit of colour, we asked our entrants to tell us a bit more about themselves, such as what they enjoy doing out of the office and who they would want to play them in a movie of their life. The selection process proved, if anyone still needs convincing, that there is a whole new wave of young professionals that are committed to improving the industry and ensuring wealth management is in safe hands for generations to come. The quality has been outstanding and boiling the number down to 30 proved a very tough task. The individuals selected are all excelling in their field. They have worked hard to build their knowledge and their work is having a tangible impact on their employers. The final list is based on a combination of professional qualifications, which range from the CFA to chartered wealth manager status, academic achievements and the scope of the responsibilities they hold at their companies. The latter includes personally running client money, being members of investment committees and other decision-making duties they have day-to-day.Of course, it is not all work and for a bit of fun we have asked our entrants to tell us what would be the soundtrack of their lives and what their first jobs were, as well as how they are investing their clients’ money. What became abundantly clear when we were scrutinising the entrants was the sheer number of talented individuals that the industry attracts. This suggests to us that wealth management remains as appealing as ever and clients will be in safe hands for generations to come. Show less
