  - Worked a large variety of programs with students aged 8-19, most notably Wesleyan Upward Bound ‘boot camp.’- Responsibilities involved working with canoes, climbing gear, camping protocol, trail maintenance equipment, and a vast variety of different skills and tools. - Served as Lead Instructor for 5-day backpacking trips along the Appalachian Trail.

  - Creatively developed curriculum to adhere to California State Standards, taught classes, led evening activities and assisted in overall program operations. - Classes included forest ecology, animal ecology, freshwater ecology, fire ecology, herpetology, ethnobotany, astronomy, geology, and survival skills as well as recreational classes such as archery, canoeing, rock climbing, high ropes and group hikes. - Prepared training and advised specialists in proper teaching techniques as well as successful preparation procedures for their individual programs. - Supervised and evaluated program specialists while offering support, guidance and assistance in growth and improvement. - Organized specialist schedules for free time, evening activities, etc.

  - Worked with the BLM, Forest Service, Park Department and other partners on conservation projects.- Constructed trail re-routes, stone structures, helped load helicopters, removed invasive species, and took part in many other rigorous, technical outdoor jobs while camping out.

  Trail Builder with New York-New Jersey Trail Conference

  - Participated in trail construction and maintenance including technical stone work, tread work, drainage issues and inventory using GPS hardware. - Helped recruit, train and retain volunteers as part of an effort to establish self-sufficient trail crews in the region.

  Oversee interstate partner relations, long-distance trail management, and technical trail advising/construction for over 2,000 miles of trail in the NYC metro area. - Oversaw project implementation on nearly 800 miles of trail across 40+ land management units alongside partners on Federal, State, County and local levels.- Supported the work of 300+ volunteers engaging in service on public lands.- Worked on grant writing, land acquisition/conservation, environmental advocacy, and other tasks to support open space in the state of New Jersey.
