      Secretary - general

As Secretary-general I was in charge of the management of the Flemish Commission for UNESCO. The UNESCO commissions, established in each of the 196 member states of the organization, act as national contact points that can assist Unesco in the orientation and development of its programs. The UNESCO Commissions are composed of specialists in the domains in which the organization is active; education, natural and social sciences, culture and media. The opinions, different perspectives and advices of the commissions can be very enriching and inspiring for UNESCO as a whole, in determining its global and regional course. Besides inspiring and supporting UNESCO itself, member state commissions also assist their own respective governments by giving advice on any UNESCO-related matter or issue. Finally, each commission can take its own initiatives to help accomplish UNESCO's goals and objectives with regard to their own country Show less
