      Over Platform Calgary's 4 month student entrepreneurship program I developed Beat Bop, a company dedicated to empowering musicians with intelligent creative apps for audio sampling. The art of using samples of other songs to create new ones is an increasingly popular technique that music producers use today, but it can often take hours to isolate the individual pieces of these songs for sampling use. The company's flagship product, Stemify, looked to recent advancements in machine learning to tackle the challenge of separating individual instruments out from a provided source track in mere seconds.       Human Computer Interaction Researcher

      We explored the use of cinematic “pre-visualization” (previs) techniques as a rapid ideation and design futuring method for human computer interaction (HCI) research. Over the summer, I designed and lead eight week-long design futuring sprints with different researchers across various HCI and computer science domains to produce short animated concepts envisioning the future of their research. After reflecting on our experiences in the sprints, we developed a One Week Futuring Workbook to support other Research-Designer teams in their futuring endeavours. Show less

      People’s Choice Winner University of Calgary - Faculty of Graduate Studies Sep 2019 At the 2019 Summer Innovation Showcase held at the University of Calgary, I won the People’s Choice award for my 3 minute pitch on Beat Bop, a company that helps music producers sample songs quickly using machine learning. Over the summer I founded, researched, and validated the business concept by speaking with potential customers. I then developed a prototype application for the web and posted it to Reddit where the project was well received.

The app used a simulated population to playfully display the state of mental wellbeing across Canada to reduce feelings of isolation amongst individuals experiencing mental health related symptoms.
