  I collaborate with clinical and basic scientists by reviewing and editing their research manuscripts in preparation for submission to peer-reviewed journals. During the iterative editing process, I ensure that the manuscript is well organized, includes an appropriate level of background information, avoids redundancies and unnecessary or tangential ideas, and draws evidence-based conclusions. As a trained molecular biologist and journal reviewer, I can show manuscript authors how to fundamentally strengthen a weaker presentation, such as by explaining how to interpret results of statistical analyses, suggesting ways to fill gaps in logic, and predicting likely criticisms from reviewers. Outside of editing, I teach principles of scientific writing and editing to all levels of learners and also conduct research on scholarly publication. Show less
