      The main aspects to my role were the management of the safety change process, whereby any changes to the rail network or operations would undergo an independent safety review as part of the approvals process. I was also responsible for managing the organisations input into the LU QRA model, I also developed a new asset safety risk model which was integrated into the business management functions as a driver for safety risk based asset management.

      Working at the DLR in the run up to the London 2012 Olympics I was responsible for Safety, Risk and Security. My role involved liaison with the police, security services and other transport operators as part of the Olympic Transport Security Group in the planing of the Games. I managed the safety reporting and aspects of the safety management system. I implemented a new risk management system and a process for applying this to prioritising reliability improvements to the rail network. I undertook the initial safety risk assessment on the new Thames Cable Car which was being built by the DLR team. Show less I was head of safety for London Overground Infrastructure working on the delivery East London Line Project. My role covered both the management of the engineering safety activities associated with the new rolling stock and railway systems in support of the safety case as well as providing a link to the TfL operations team an the operator LOROL from a systems safety perspective.The role also involved overseeing the management of health and safety across the project during the construction of the new railway infrastructure.       Heading up the Safety and Assurance function of Network Rail's international consultancy business in Australia, my role has focussed on providing the Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) service to the Sydney Metro North West for the tunnel and viaduct contracts and the Reference Design for the City & South West extension.I have provided specialist support on both safety, risk and assurance processes to various clients in the Australian rail sector including Sydney Trains, TfNSW and RISSB.       I was responsible for the safety and engineering management systems for the Infrastructure and Place (IP) Division of Transport for NSW which was delivering a portfolio of projects worth over $10bn. This included leadership of the WHS team with over 30 deployed specialists operating across the state. I chaired the Configuration Control Board (CCB) and participated in the TfNSW Network Assurance Committee as the IP representative. I was the safety representative on the IP Executive Committee. I led the update of the Safety Management Systems and Engineering Management processes, including the development of a new technical competence management process. I was part of the leadership team that developed the new TfNSW Asset Management Framework, the associated processes and the governance arrangements which fundamentally change how the wider transport cluster manages changes to assets and services across the portfolio. Show less I lead the team providing safety and engineering assurance for the development and program management of two (2) multi-billion-dollar investment programs (More Train More Services 1 & 2) to introduce new trains, infrastructure improvements, and a new operating timetable. This included supporting the development of the business cases and program oversight of the delivery phase activities by other parts of the organisational and the private sector. I developed and championed the asset resilience initiative to ensure that funding was allocated in the business case to support projects to increase the reliability of the railway, reduce the need for hands on maintenance activities and to enable rapid return to service following a failure.
