  Served as a fire team leader assigned to a convoy security company (518th Gun Truck Company provisional) while deployed to Iraq with the NC National Guard. • Major duties included ensuring the safety and security of 200 plus truck convoys, their military and civilian drivers, and the vital supplies and equipment being transported by these convoys. • Responsible for the health, welfare, and morale of a fire team and for ensuring their mission accomplishment. • Responsible for small arms and crew serve weapons deployment, detection and reaction to ambush and attack by improvised explosive devises, interaction with indigenous personnel, and ensuring that the convoy made it safely to its destination.• Involved in direct engagement with enemy forces, emergency medical evacuation of military and civilian casualties, vehicle recovery operations, and base security operations. • Decorated for participation and leadership during this deployment.
