  Intern at the University of Michigan's Department of Psychiatry

  I interned remotely at the University of Michigan's Department of Psychiatry where I worked alongside Dr. Persad, a clinical professor and director in the Neuropsychology Program at The University of Michigan. I conducted a secondary analysis of a study that investigated fatigue in adults with and without mild cognitive impairment while driving. During my remote internship I learned about the impacts of cognitive diseases and gained experience interpreting scientific data and preforming statistical analyses.   Conducted a retrospective analysis on the nutritional habits of youths with elevated BMI during COVID-19, utilizing R Studio for data coding and analysis, and prepared and submitted abstract to the Pediatric Academic Societies (PAS). Developed new pediatric weight management program for the University of Michigan and built a new “MIPLAN” website. Assessed the effectiveness digital interventions, such as the “Health Kick Plus” app, in reducing fast food visits among users. I worked with Dr. Prosser, Professor and Director of the Susan B. Meister Child Health Evaluation and Research Center, on research involving ways to evaluate the health and well-being of children. I interpreted data results using Qualtrics software and contact individuals to participate in the research project.

  Intern for African American Infant and Maternal Mortality Prevention Initiative

  As a Intern, I distribute flyers to African American mothers in low-income areas, raising awareness of racial health disparities and promoting resources (i.e., doula support, housing assistance). Additionally, I develop surveys and create slide decks to foster community engagement. I am currently conducting literature review analyzing link between Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Black infant mortality.
