      Manager of Diversity, Inclusivity, and AccessibilityThis position is responsible for helping the Museum realize its mission to reach a diverse audience and creating a welcoming environment for all, including people from diverse cultures and backgrounds, underserved communities, and visitors with physical and/or intellectual disabilities.Attend events in the community to engage diverse audiences and encourage Museum visitation. Created the Museum’s Public Accessibility policy. Developed cross-departmental Accessibility Task Force to advise on programs and exhibitions. Coordinated a six-month Museum accessibility study and staff training by Arts Access, Inc. Address accommodation requests from visitors with special needs or disabilities. Created social narratives for the Museum and Park for people with intellectual disabilities. Develop large print wall label text booklets for special exhibitions for visitors with low vision. Created and write a bi-monthly Accessibility Information and Events newsletter. Design and present events for special audiences; e.g., American Sign Language tours of special exhibitions for people who are deaf or have hearing loss, sensory-friendly mornings for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and audio description tours for people who are blind or have low vision. Collaborate with other departments to ensure programs, exhibitions, and events are welcoming to all visitors. Show less Supervise two Public Information Assistants and over 360 program volunteers; liaison between NCMA Volunteer Board and the NC Museum of Art; responsible for the recruitment, retention, and recognition of all program volunteers; perform all volunteer trainings, scheduling, and evaluations for programs and ticketed exhibitions; provide polite, professional customer service to callers and visitors, including answering requests for information and addressing visitor comments and complaints; chaired the interdepartmental Visitor Experience Team, which identified and addressed ways to improve the visitor’s enjoyment of the Museum and its programming; solicit in-kind donations and services for volunteer events; develop and supervise departmental budget; plan, organize and direct volunteer day trips by motor coach to other museums and places of interest; oversee court-appointed and school community service work programs; represent the Museum at general and public speaking events; implemented Museum highlights audio tour; design, write, create and distribute monthly volunteer e-newsletter using Contactology; assisted in the opening of the Museum's new 127,000 square foot West Building; oversee operation of Information Desks and Membership services in each of the Museum's two buildings; planning and event committee member for the Museum's annual Art of the Auction fund-raiser.
