Fiberactive Organics is a member of the Organic Trade Association, Green America and Textile Exchange, the three leading organizations fighting for sustainability in the global textile industry.As part of the mission of Fiberactive Organics, I give presentations and am on speakers panels on the topic of the harmful practices of the fashion and textile industries and what is being done to turn that around.   At Earth to Earth I create one of a kind sustainable burial products like fabric cremation urns and caskets. Working with my hands and at a sewing machine I produce art urns, shrouds, and caskets of my own design and utilize a wide variety of materials and techniques. In the forefront of the natural burial movement for the last 20 years, I'm proud to say that my caskets and shrouds are completely bio-degradable. I also make casket liners, pillows and casket quilts for those that want to use wooden or another type of rigid casket. Show less

  North Carolina Composting Council

  Administrative Coordinator

  I helped my father with composting my whole life and always knew the importance of compost for the health of the soil and everything growing in it. So, when I learned about the NC Composting Council I, naturally, wanted to be part of the team. As the Administrative Coordinator I manage the Council's database and records, I schedule events and represent the Council at those events, and perform all of the clerical functions that need to be done. When I first started my work with the NC Composting Council I helped overhaul the website writing and designing several pages as well as starting a blog by researching and writing articles. Now after nearly a year in this position, I find that my favorite part of the work is teaching and speaking about composting and compost use to individuals and groups. We're working hard to get the word out about how compost use sequesters carbon in the soil and has the ability to solve the global climate crisis. Though the tasks are sometimes small, the work is powerful. Show less
