  Working under Dr. Subhrakanta Panda of the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems to improve early drug safety assessment by predicting whether a compound can block the hERG channel, causing severe heart problems. We compile a dataset of drugs and extract feature vectors that include their fingerprint and descriptors using SMILES representation. The target feature is extracted by creating a selenium bot and using it on the DrugBank website. Essential features are extracted using the Genetic Algorithm and Random Forest Recursive Elimination technique. Different sampling techniques have been used to check the robustness of our model. Results are compared among traditional machine learning algorithms and deep-learning models on standard dataset. Show less
