      Bachelor's degree with Honours Pharmacology
  • Experience

    • WEHI (Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research)

      Jan 2001 - Dec 2009

I completed my PhD under the supervision of Dr Jacqui Gulbis in the Structural Biology Division of WEHI. My thesis was entitled 'structural studies of the mitochondrial import pathway'. I worked at WEHI as part of the Structural Biology Division as a Research Assistant.

        Jan 2006 - Dec 2009
      • Research Assistant

        Jan 2001 - Jan 2006
    • Monash University

      Jan 2010 - Apr 2024

I am now working in the Structural Biology Microbiology Laboratory in the Department of Microbiology at Monash University. My work largely relates to the structure and function of enzymes, including those from parasites and bacteria, with a large emphasis on targeted drug design and analysis. After completing my PhD, I began my postdoc with Prof. Lithgow in the Department of Biochemistry at Monash University. Here I was awarded a 4 year NHMRC Peter Doherty Postdoctoral Research Fellowship where I developed expertise in understanding protein translocation in gram-negative bacteria. I used biochemical techniques to study structure and function, concentrating on membrane bound protein complexes and machinery involved in cell survival and virulence.
