  Kalis was a family run clothing business, as part of the team I would set up a stall, unload stock and present it nicely to the consumer, I would tag products, record sales and keep on top of stock. My main job was as a sales person, I would talk to people from all walks of life. Customer service was key to working on a stall as your success was your reputation, sometimes it was not about the sale. Many consumers were of an elder generation who more often than not wanted someone to talk to about their day, I have heard some amazing stories. Being successful means understanding your consumer and giving them an enjoyable and memorable experience. Show less

  Volunteer

  I would work on the shop floor ensuring everything was tidy. As I was a Volunteer at the age of 17 I was not allowed to handle money but would wrap and package products that had been purchased. Moving merchandise from the store room to the shop floor was another one of my responsibilities.

  Having a passion for mehndi from a young age is what inspired me to make a job out of it. After researching and experimenting with mehndi, I gained the confidence to offer my services to others. I attended two events where I worked for free at The College of West Anglia, I have also been employed for three weddings where I was paid for my service.

  Using monoprinting I designed posters and campaign materials for the Hakuna Matata Campaign for three members that were running for three different sabatical roles, one of which was successful.

  Similar to working as Bar Staff at the Students Union I would stock shelves, clean, waitress and work behind the bar. Now as a supervisor I would delegate jobs and advise other members of the team, handle money, create and complete float sheets. Alongside this I would be responsible for handling any situations that occurred and securing buildings at the end of a shift. In this job I would undertake a variety of jobs delegated by my supervisor or manager. I would stock shelves, handle money, clean, waitress and work behind the bar. As Social Secretary I would maintain all our social media outputs, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook as well as update the Womens Basketball page on the Students web page. I would also organise events weekly for the team, themed nights and an annual charity event. The committee in general were responsible ensuring an enjoyable experience for all members, raising POs, attending meetings and completing a smooth transition from our committee to the new one.

  At Tinfish Creative I worked on a wide range of B2B projects for an array of clients from different sectors. This work included, Website Design, UX Design, Packaging, Social Media Content Creation, Campaigns, Branding, Corporate PowerPoints, Exhibition Graphics, Leaflets, Newsletters amongst other printed materials.Working on projects from design concept through to final production has allowed me to gain a sense of ownership and responsibility. I have experienced working on, multiple projects at the same time, under pressure and to tight deadlines. This experience has taught me how to be flexible and remain professional when adapting design to meet clients ever changing requirements. I understand the importance of going that extra mile to meet and exceed clients expectations. Show less
