  I am one of the co-founders of the News team, that currently runs on weekday mornings. I present and write the morning news once a week. I was able to build on my organisation, time-management and research skills, especially with it being every half hour in the morning between 7 and 10, and based only on local news.

  I started writing for sports website Touchline Talk in April of last year, rising up to become feature writer and then editor at the start of this year. My main duties include writing features, sub-editing contributor copy and finding new writers to join the website.

  I spent a week on work experience at the Breeze news office in Andover, working with journalists in the news radio sector. I learnt much and improved on my news reading and scriptwriting skills. I also attended three press conferences, including at Swindon Town FC, a police station and one attended by Prince Edward.

  I spent a week's work experience at the Daily Echo in Southampton, where I was often tasked to write small NIBs and help out with creating their end-of-season Saints review special edition. On many occasions, I had to find my own stories, and with the football season having just finished it became tougher to find ones surrounding local sport, but was able to get a couple of pieces in the newspaper.

  Working at Essex County Cricket Club was a brilliant experience, as I got to learn what it is like on the other side of the media, working within a sports club. I helped in coordinating with regional and national press on the club's annual media day, as well as working on their website and TV channel, EssexTV. My main duties throughout the two weeks were match preparation, for example scorecards and previews, filming interviews, writing news articles and creating video packages.

  During the week I spent at Sportsbeat, they gave me so much help with learning how to write web articles better, as well as, improving my manner for phone interviews.I produced articles for some of the publications they provide content for, including websites Women's Super League, RBS Six Nations and PRO12 Rugby and newspaper The Cricket Paper. I interviewed football and cricket players over the phone, creating a preview and news piece, whilst also transcribing interviews, mainly on rowing for the Team GB website. Show less

I also work in the kitchen, which can be high pressured as you need to ensure that food is cooked to a high standard and all the orders are sent out correctly.   I achieved promotion to this role after 11 months with the news SEO team at The Sun. In this role, I work with the different newsroom departments to help drive more search traffic to the website. These include Home and Foreign News, Money Travel, Health, Tech and the US site, the-sun.com.My other duties include producing plans for future events with search in mind and carrying out backlink outreach to improve The Sun's profile.I also look to improve the standard of stories from a search perspective, while working with new members of the team to improve their own skills.As in my previous role, I also pitch stories to news teams that will drive search traffic while delegating articles to be written to SEO writers.I work to optimise the stories on the site to ensure they stand the best chance to rank on Google.
