In 2000, I left Avaya to work in the indirect channel. I chose to work for a company by the name of Matrix Technologies headquartered in Washington DC. Matrix was a small, fast growing private company, with unique management, and sales revenues at the time in excess of $5 mil. I quickly and consistently set new standards for sales and revenue attainment. I did this by meeting or exceeding our customers expectations and delivering what was promised and expected. I helped fuel growth that included new offices/expansion on both coasts. In 2006, I took an ownership position in Matrix Technologies and gladly saw revenues surpass $20 mil.Somewhere around the year 2007, it was clear the market dynamics were changing. Industry product margins were being eroded, and overall business spending was down. Unless Matrix developed a managed services strategy (recurring revenue streams), providing ongoing support, maintenance, and proactive offerings for our valued clients, the business model would not continue its success. Eventually it was decided to merge with TriNET Systems based out of Massachusetts. This was a company with a very similar business model, $75 mil in annual revenues but a much more mature services organization. Soon after that, Carousel Industries acquired the organization.
