We worked as a team to critically plan out the culture and direction of the school, planning for the school to be fully built out in four years and developing a rigorous and transformative educational experience for our students. I was responsible for developing the founding physics curriculum for 150+ students using network standards, culturally relevant Pedagogy, and NGSS. My students achieved student growth and proficiency data in the top 10% of DSST Public Schools Network. Within the first year, our school achieved the highest honor of blue standard school and #1 high school in Denver Public Schools.I led culturally relevant interventions for failing, high-need, or students with a 504/IEP who needed additional support in the classroom. I took my knowledge of STEM education to develop initiatives engaging teachers and students, introducing them to the world of agri-STEM. I served three main roles, including 1) developing initiatives, 2) overseeing PK-10 early recruitment, and 3) streamlining outreach. This was a new role, allowing me to come in and make it my own, provide strategic direction for the future of this position, and create opportunities for engagement.Responsibilities:Directed an overhaul of the communication process between 1500+ interdepartmental staff, media team, and external facing programming to execute outreach projects across 92 counties in Indiana and managed the strategic development of new critical recruitment pipelines.Built and maintained relationships with external partners to develop outreach projects, establish funding, and expand impact.Trained college leadership, interdepartmental recruiters, staff, and faculty on culturally relevant pedagogy and implementing culturally competent recruitment and retention strategies to drive strategic change in college-wide efforts. I have the privilege, along with a co-worker, to develop a curriculum to walk leaders in the college through learning more about cultural competency and growing their knowledge of inequities facing our students and country. This expanded into a fully developed curriculum, training program, and publication. In this role, I oversaw the direction and coordination of multiple large-scale programs, built out a full-cycle recruitment plan, led the strategic development of goals driven by data and future projections, and developed numerous new partnership programs.Utilizing my diversity, equity, and inclusion skills, I worked with identified critical internal and external partners to develop initiatives to recruit and retain historically underserved students in the state of Arkansas into the world of agri-STEM.
