      Jan 2017 - Jan 2022
      Product Development Lead

Bootstrapped an African-focused learning company from 0-17,000 users while leading a cross-functional remote team and launching first-of-it's-kind product features. Here's my brag list: 1. Created from scratch the initial wireframes and prototypes on Figma, including designing the information architecture and built the platform that had a healthy 37% bounce rate and an impressive 22% month on month conversion rate. Pulled this off by designing a delightful UI and a seamless, simple UX. And lots of A/B testing.2. Managed the entire product life cycle of a B2B SaaS platform that was acquired before it was fully launched. Did this through a lot of user and market research and collaboration with external teams.3. Improved course completion rates from 67% to a whooping 83% in an industry where the global average is 16%. Did this by nurturing an engaged community of learners and committed instructors. 4. Prioritized and built features that made the learning platform accessible to users with visual and hearing disabilities and achieved an accessibility (WCAG) rating of AA. 5. Achieved a lofty NPS score of 8.2 (learners) and 8.9 (instructors). Did this through consistent user engagement in our Agile model of working and constant iteration. 6. Hired and onboarded a cross-functional remote team of both full-time and part-time employees and created processes that helped them thrive. 7. Built collaborative partnerships with government bodies, international agencies and higher education organizations that were worth a combined 7 figures in business value. Show less

In this role, I am worked to birth a learning platform that is targeted towards low-income teachers who primarily use a basic Android phone and have limited access to data. Here’s what that looks like:1. Translating business strategies into product requirements. Involves a lot of cross-functional collaboration and engagement with the management, other teams and end users to capture needs, use-cases and ultimate goals.2. Grooming product requirements into clear features that can be shared with the development team; and ensuring consistency and alignment between the users, the programs team, management and the dev team.3. Managing and prioritizing product backlog, creating and managing product documentation, and tracking development velocity. This includes participating in Sprint activities, from planning to retrospectives.4. Leading the testing process with our end users; from prototype testing to User Acceptance Testing. Show less
