  I studied the functional changes in the primary somatosensory cortex, in the thalamus and in the dorsal column nuclei after a spinal cord injury (acute and chronic models in rats) and after spinal modulation with direct current (DCS). Our main techniques were extracellular recordings in vivo and spinal stimulation.Mayor skills:development of anatomical models for modulating the spinal cord activity in a healthy animal model and after a spinal cord injury; stereotactic surgery (craniotomy, laminectomy, tracheotomy) in anesthetized rats; electrophysiological recording in the somatosensory cortex, in the thalamus and in the nuclei of the dorsal columns of the anesthetized rat; histology; post-operative care of rats with acute and chronic spinal cord injury.   I'm in charge to manage the lab for what concerns the organization and coordination of the students and the experiments. I'm also responsible for the animal care for cognitive neuroscience experiments. Training, surgeries, in-vivo recording with or without optogenetics (anesthetized and awake rats), histology and discussion of the experimental results are my main tasks in the lab. Mayor skills:rat’s handling and training for cognitive neuroscience experiments; stereotactic surgery for electrodes implantation in the rat brain; neuronal recording in anesthetized and awake rats; optogenetics; histology; intra- and post-operative care of rats with brain implant.
