      Rowing Coach

I have been a rowing coach with a focus on junior and scholastic high school teams since the fall of 1987. I've worked with both men's and women's squads to develop strong individuals and squads with the goal of competing at the highest level possible. I've coached at and developed programs at Washington-Liberty (Lee) HS, Wakefield HS, Holton-Arms School, Gonzaga College HS, and West Springfield HS, in addition to Potomac Boat Club's juniors programs. Working closely with parents booster organizations and school administrations I've been able to increase program sizes, help establish positive team cultures, and create sustainable programs that allow athletes to flourish. Seeing athletes advance beyond scholastic rowing to the collegiate ranks (and helping them navigate the college admission process) is something I consider fulfilling. In addition, I have coached adult masters and pre/elite rowers preparing for world level competition. With skill in coaching sweep and sculling technique, conditioning, equipment purchase, maintenance, and repair, and boat trailering my experience offers a rounded skill set capable of handling any situation. Most recent active position: Women's Coach (head and varsity asst.) (2013-2018 ) at Washington-Liberty (Lee) High School in Arlington, VA. Show less
