  The kiln department makes oxyline brick that is essentially made for electric arc blast furnace that's utilized in the steel mill. Once the brick arrives at my work station I am responsible for inspecting and inventorying the oxyline brick. Once that is done it is the responsibility of myself and coworkers to effectively communicate with management to assure the adequate amount of bricks are being loaded onto the push cart. The amount of bricks vary depending on the customer needs. On average me and my team load around 3,000 to 5,000 pieces onto the cart. Once all brick are loaded we push the cart into the kiln and raise the kiln down while making sure the cart is lined well under the kiln. While under the kiln, the bricks are cured for 72 hours while the bricks are cooking one of my responsibilities is to document any defective brick found while loading and scanning tickets into the system of bricks that are in good standing. To make sure that the kiln is utilizing the right temperature it's my duty to use an computer system that's connected to the kiln to turn on/off burners, operate exhaust fans, and to follow the recipe formula. When the 72 hours comes to an end we let the bricks sit for a day to cool off then come back to unload. Show less
