    • Phi Mu Alpha Kappa Gamma Chapter

      Jan 2010 - Mar 2013

I am a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia since November 22, 2009. After the previous Treasurer graduated, I was elected Treasurer until I could no longer run due to graduation. My main duties were to collect and calculate dues for each semester and remit these dues to the Province (state level) and National governance. I worked with the President on year-end reports to the Province Governor. Outside of required duties, I worked to create, manage, and budget fundraisers to upgrade and maintain the required activities for the chapter. Under my guidance and the helpful contributions of my chapter, we grew the savings in our bank account to give our chapter more financial independence. Show less I was nominated and elected Secretary of my chapter in the first elections after my initiation. My responsibilities covered taking meeting minutes, organizing the meeting minutes online, and maintaining the physical copies of the meeting minutes. All of my duties could have been audited by the province leadership (state-level leaders). This helped prepare me for routine process within organizations and gave insight into democratic policies. In addition, the Secretary position is on the executive committee, which gave me insight into how leaders governed and set their goals. Show less

      • Kappa Gamma Chapter Treasurer

        Jan 2011 - Mar 2013
      • Chapter Secretary

        Jan 2010 - Jan 2011
    • Berry College

      Sept 2011 - May 2013

I was offered this position by my marketing professor to be a student manager for her researchers. I was the first contact for any problems or concerns between the professor and her researchers. One key project was to support the business school by talking to prospective students about the opportunities in the marketing department for research, course work, and independent or group projects. In addition, I scheduled times for the student researchers to attend these events and be available for any emergencies the researchers may face (materials, personnel, and assistance). This positioned primed me to be responsible for my actions as well as expectations of working weekends to meet goals. Show less I was offered this position by the Director of the Agriculture Department at my college. He required help from someone who was generally competent and confident with computers to implement a new software the school purchased. The goals for adding this new software was to modernize inventory-tracking, automate recordings of inventory usage, and create a cost per pound analysis of beef and milk production. Through this position I learned how to lead a project and keep managers updated. In addition, I was communicating any concerns that herd managers may have with the change from their current digital systems to their new system. Show less This was my first job in college and prepared me for being able to work in detail-oriented environments. An example of this attention to detail is that I would mow the field for the softball team. Had I missed certain areas, messed up the dirt tracks, or turned too sharp (which would tear up the field), the coaches would reprimand my bosses who would then reprimand me for not being careful. This job became more and more part-time until I was no longer able to work with Athletic Grounds due to my positions in the Agriculture Department. Show less I was offered a position in a student enterprise by the CEO to work as a business consultant. My key roles were to write an operational plan, a business plan, and a marketing plan. I glimpsed the painful yet rewarding aspects of opening a new business or starting a new department. I admired the freedom I had to create and act on my visions with few barriers in terms of planning and goals. Ultimately, this endeavor was not approved by the governing body of the student enterprise to become funded. Despite the initial failure, I was prepared to write another operational, business, and marketing plan for a future college course (working with a different student enterprise) as well as teaching me how to plan for my own future business ventures. Efile Processor Temp

I started this job solely to prepare and file sales tax returns, but within a few months I was taking on larger responsibilities for filing-related projects such as updating account records for customer sales and use tax accounts. Later on, I was given reports to manage and create, which allowed me to exercise my Visual Basic for Applications knowledge and developed a basic understanding of how Microsoft Access can be applied to operational metrics. These reports were geared more towards operations for filer efficiency and ensuring customers receive their tax return copies. Show less

    • Applied Predictive Technologies

      Sept 2015 - Oct 2015
      Marketing Temp

I was brought on as a marketing temp through Accountemps to help record lists on prospective clients. I was impressed by the hard-working and high energy demeanor of the marketing department. My short time at APT I saw the corporate culture I strive to be apart of that is commonly attributed to technology-based firms and startups.

    • GTT

      Oct 2015 - Apr 2016
      AP Clerk Temp

I joined GTT to explore accounting and accounts payable processes. I was processing invoices with SG&A expenses and digging my way out of a mound of invoices and verifying they were entered and saved properly. I have seen my past exposure to VBA come in handy especially when working on migrating data between systems and for processing monthly invoices. My time here stressed to me the importance of learning SQL and how it could apply to my future in programming, finance, and data analytics.

    • Guidance Residential

      Jun 2016 - Jun 2018
      GL Accountant

I heard about Guidance Residential through a local Robert Half Accountemps branch. My interest in joining the company as an accountant was to understand aspects of the Mortgage Industry. What I enjoyed about my early time here was going over training documents to understand how the mortgage industry creates and sells Mortgage Backed Securities as well as how it funds lending through revolving warehouse credit lines. Very soon I realized I could add a bit of automation to the current processes to decrease time spent doing routine tasks. This allowed me to refine my debugging skills and expand my mastery of scripting with Visual Basic for Applications. As a result, I am inspired to pursue other programming languages, currently studying Python, that will allow for faster data analysis. Show less

    • Boeing

      Jun 2018 - now

My time at Boeing has made me realize that VBA programming in Excel is used at larger corporations. While this may be an ideal fit for my current skills, I hope the data demands push me to learn even more useful programming languages to advance my financial reporting automation knowledge.
