  Child watch

  Performed Child Watch duties and assisted in Child Care Day Camp excursions.Ran a program called "Active Science" that was newly introduced to the Central Ohio YMCA locations. Running the program expanded my leadership capabilities and provided me with experience in technological management. The program ran for two weeks with ages five through fifteen participating. Children completed an exercise routine alongside team relays and other active games while wearing either a pedometer or accelerometer to track their amount of Moderate-to Physical Activity (MVPA). Afterward, children were allotted "tablet time" where I helped enter their activity from the morning onto the Active Science application on Amazon Fire tablets. They then went through interactive science lessons and unlocked games based on physical activity level and other in-game achievements. The goal of the program is to combat the prevalence of obesity and general non-activity among school-aged children while also increasing science knowledge. Show less
