Sept 2004 - nowAs the Senior Performance Manager covering four community service boroughs which include Bury, Oldham Trafford and Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale, I have used my communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships and work collaboratively with the local Commissioners, Managing Directors and Senior Managers on numerous occasions to oversee the strategic approach to performance management within each borough. I lead a team of five performance managers to work with front line services to analyse and improve performance data, translating data for clinical staff to ensure a good level of understanding. This is done ensuring that deadlines and targets are negotiated, understood and met to the benefit of all parties including patients at the forefront of the process. As each borough is commissioned differently, to suit the diversity of the patients accessing the multitude of services, my work requires an understanding of each service and the commissioning requirements. Using this knowledge it is my role to take a strategic view of the requirements and ensure that the message is passed on to my team to implement my directions as required. It is then my responsibility to feedback progress against the project plan to the Managing Directors and CCG colleagues, providing assurance and managing the expectations of the stakeholders when appropriate. Working within the Performance department has allowed me to implement a variety of positive changes ranging from the way in which services operate within the premises in which they are delivered, to the way in which training is delivered to front line staff. I have also realised the importance of proactive engagement with stakeholders in order to change the cultural approach to service delivery. Show less In order to maintain a focus on quality delivery of services, my present role consist of project managing the role out of a Care Quality Commission assessment tool that i designed during my previous role within the Governance Department of NHS Bury. The assessment process identifies any gaps in quality within service areas and enables front line staff to increase their awareness of their responsibilities to patent care in line with the CQCs outcomes and the Trusts values. I currently work with 250 services to ensure smooth role out of the assessment within a set time scale. I provide support to all types of staff from Governors, Directors and ward staff to ensure full engagement in the process. Reports are created upon completion of the process and these reports are presented to the Quality Group which is a subsidiary to the Board. I maintain a close working relationship with other stakeholders within the Trust such as the Director for Essence of Care and the Director of Governance. The quality assessment process allows the Trust to gain assurance that services and wards are maintaining a high level of quality care to service users whilst ensuring that carers/relatives/parents have the assurance that this is being tested by the organisation. The process incorporates an mechanism to ensure that any gaps that are identified have action plans in place to rectify immediately. The process is rolled out to front line staff which has enabled the services to manage a will to change from the bottom up and en-powered staff to feel that it is their responsibility to make the changes required.Once the assessment has been completed the reports generated allows services to benchmark and learn from each other to develop better ways of working and sharing of information to enable a leaner way of working.Working with other systems including incidents and complaints and incorporating this information when working with the assessments allows data to be triangulated. Show less I have proven myself to be resourceful in managing many projects by leading, devising and subsequent implementation (e.g. the innovation and introduction across the organisation of an audit tool, subsequently endorsed by the Department of Health that facilitated successful registration with the Care Quality Commission).My post is primarily to act as Lead Manager in the implementation of the Governance Framework across all areas of Community Services Bury. This guarantees that a Quality Framework is followed to maintain the clinically led, managerially supported culture is embodied throughout all clinical services.
