The team is responsible for asset management, asset failure investigation, optimisation based decision making for preventative and maintenance works on top of ensuring network availability and readiness for planned and unplanned events.Key responsibilities:• Accountable for management for Western Power Transmission (Tx) line network operability, availability and reliability• Accountable in supporting the WP management team by building high performing constructive team to achieve the corporate goals set within the function plan.• Accountable for prudent planning and accurate delivery of Capex and Opex investment planning • Manage a team of 6 senior engineers that are responsible in performing complex analysis and offer subject matter advice to various parts of the business, ensuring the 215+ Tx Overhead and under ground line assets ranging from 33 kV to 330 kV are managed effectively.• Drive the performance by incorporating applicable internal standards and processes with the application of business systems. • Lead the team in enhancing collaboration with Asset Performance function and other internal. external stakeholders across the power industry.• Oversee delivery of Asset Performance Quarterly Reports (APQR) and Network Safety Performance Outcomes (NSPO) reporting• Offer leadership and strategic thinking perspective on top of ongoing engineering support to engineering and delivery teams • Network asset failure investigation and the root cause analysis of asset failures.• Drive continuous improvement and innovation in the management of assets. This also aims at providing details that can justify prudent investment on asset management• Set up processes and procedures around delivery of optimal life cycle performance by applying maintenance standards, asset condition and remaining life assessment• Lead continuous improvement initiatives and aid in innovative management of OPEX and CAPEX programs. • Offer engineering support to field staff and carry out field based inspections. It assumes a responsibility for regulatory compliance, asset Risk Management and the Operation and Maintenance of the network assets.Key responsibilities:• Delivery of transmission maintenance strategy and holistic substation inspection plan. • Strategy custodian for outdoor circuit breakers (CB), indoor switchboards (SWB), gas insulated switchgear (GIS), instrument transformers (ITX), disconnectors and earth switches (DIS), surge arresters (SA), secondary systems including protection relays, AC and DC auxiliary supplies for substation assets.• Subject matter expert (SME) support to development of power transformer, substation security, all transmission plant info packs and forecasting models as a part of performance management. • Provide inputs into Western Power asset function report, network investment planning for CAPEX, OPEX and REPEX for a span of 10 years • Transmission incharge for providing information for regulatory information notices (RIN) templates and data capture templates that includes description, business drivers, delivery approach, timing, possible outcomes, interdependencies of CAPEX/ OPEX trade off and so on of every maintenance activity.• Accountable for providing forecasting methodology to develop volumes and appropriate funding for relevant regulatory periods, from 2017/18 to 2026/27, under Economic Regulator Authority (ERA) regime. • Structure joint planning teams and run workshops to develop ageing models, threat barrier analysis for transmission substation assets• Responsible for running strategy awareness sessions for different section of stakeholders like operational asset performance, field staff, system planners and other corporate functions.• Produce sections of network level documents like network management plan for next 5 years. This also served as a justification for planned replacement in critical circuits especially 200kV and 330 kV generator connected substations. • Offer engineering support to field staff and offer feedback related to maintenance activities and challenges faced on the field like access, allocation of work due to shortage of spares and so on to engineering design, supply chain, strategy development groups during joint planning team meetings.• Develop scope of works for repair and emergency and co-ordinate work with network controller, switching operators and field staff in working towards the delivery of a task• Develop and implement maintenance procedures for End of Life Management, preventive, planned and unplanned maintenance primary assets considering affordability, reliability and availability of the network asset.• Manage out of service plant by data base involving liaising with key stakeholders.• Project manage Q&A inspections for all substation plant that is being installed in brown and green field sites to ensure their operational and maintenance requirements are met prior to them being energised. This also helped in forming a baseline for future references.• Developed a methodology in liaison with commercial colleagues to evaluate tenders by assessing whole of life cycle (WOLC) costing rather than initial costs.
