My work revolved around building predictive econometric models to project electricity demand and changes in consumption patterns of electricity in the residential sector with tangible policy implications. Developed models looking at 1) Electricity consumption patterns for Bengaluru using a primary data set, identifying and modeling at household level, ownership and usage patterns of key demand drivers, classifying and identifying variations in demand from households in different income/economic brackets and their impacts on the grid vis-à-vis daily, seasonal and peak demands2) Nationally disaggregated predictive econometric models (using large secondary data sets) to project changes in key demographic and economic indicators and demand drivers to understand their growth and related impacts on electricity demand and its implications on the supply side (Grid) and large scale renewable integrations with policy implications covering strategies for peak demand management (daily, seasonally), flexibility in loads/supply side strategies and policy design directions to maximize emissions reductions Show less
