  The Yosemite Leadership Program (YLP) is a two-year environmental leadership program at UC Merced, the program works closely with the Yosemite National Park Service to help students understand the social to environmental challenges of the 21st century. YLP focuses on fostering servant leadership skills in students through showcasing the needs of parks, public lands, and the environment. YLP's mission is to educate and inspire environmental advocacy and social change through skilled, ethical, innovative and intentional action while respecting cultural heritage and community. The first year consists of leadership development which includes leadership seminars, wilderness, and team-building experiences, and speaker series events.   I was a liaison for the potential Omicron class and the Alpha Kappa Psi chapter. As secretary, I would oversee the social affairs and professional development committee to ensure each committee executed their semester mandatory events. My duties consisted of helping potential members of the Omicron class better transition into the Alpha Kappa Psi chapter by retaining attendance and posting important reminders for both the class and the chapter.

  A Parliamentarian must understand the Psi Upsilon chapter bylaws as well as the University's disciplinary and hazing policies. As the chapter parliamentarian, I ensured that all chapter bylaws coincide and reflect the policies of Alpha Kappa Psi headquarters. I also ensured that the chapter and the executive board abides by all bylaws and all Risk Management policies. Additionally, the Parliamentarian is in charge of updating and assisting brothers create and amend bylaws. Last but not least, the Parliamentarian oversees the service committee and ensures that the committee executes at least one large scale eventper semester. Show less As associate and secretary, I would take committee notes and ensure communication between the committee and chapter ran efficiently. A great accomplishment from this committee was fundraising 751 dollars in two hours to help the homeless community in Merced. With the support of the local Merced Chipotle restaurant, Alpha Kappa Psi was able to successfully run "The Homeless Care Package Initiative" which consisted of basic-cosmetic and health necessities packed in goodie bags for the large homeless community in Merced.   As an elected senator of UC Merced, I worked diligently with the legislative branch of the associated student body government. Aside from creating and amending bylaws, I helped allocate a budget of 1.3 million dollars to over 260 clubs and organizations on campus. Additionally, I assisted with the creation of rules for the student government and regulations of the established budget. The senate team would work closely with the executive branch to deliver a true reflective voice of the student body.
