In 2018 we achieved record audience growth with more than 700,000 weekly listeners throughout California, southern Oregon, and Western Nevada. Under my leadership, the program grew to include two daily morning drive-time broadcasts as well as a weekly radio magazine and regular digital content.I recruited, coached and mentored a diverse staff that is now among the station's top performers. Reporters I supervised are now working at major media outlets including National Public Radio, Marketplace, and The Los Angeles Times. I have extensive audio production experience. I directed breaking news, set best practices for and produced dozens of live radio specials and was the lead editor for enterprise and investigative stories recognized by every major journalism organization. I create programs and initiatives to meet operational needs and deepen community support. Working closely with the development team, I ensure we foster relationships with a diverse set of partners including corporate groups, education institutions and civic organizations. I partner with the food bank’s policy and advocacy team to develop strategies for volunteers to support Census participation, voter engagement and other civic initiatives.During the Covid-19 pandemic I managed our disaster service worker program, created public safety protocols and ensured the successful reintegration of community volunteers to meet significantly larger operational needs.       "Two Deaths in One Jail in One Month" (Series) RTNDA Edward R. Murrow Award 2017 I edited a series of radio reports exposing how inmates are being harmed in local jails because of a lack of proper staffing and protocols to deal with a rise in mentally ill inmates. Our coverage included extensive online reporting as well.

      "When Jail Becomes a Death Sentence" (Investigative Reporting) Society of Professional Journalists, Norcal 2017 I was the lead editor on our multi-part, data-driven series for radio and digital exposing how the lack of proper mental healthcare for inmates in local jails is leading to needless injury and death.

Stories explored why people in California are so often unable to find a licensed psychotherapist to help them. The series examined the issue from all sides including candid conversations with therapists and insurance executives about why the system for mental health care is so broken.

Murrow Award 2015 I was the story editor for a two-part radio series examining the role some Mexicans living in California were playing in fighting back against the Mexican drug cartels terrorizing towns in Michoacan. The story, reported from Mexico and Southern California, was produced in collaboration with The Center for Investigative Reporting.

      "Rape on the Night Shift" (Broadcast/Video) Investigative Reporters and Editors 2015 I was the KQED Public Radio editor for a groundbreaking investigation produced in collaboration with FRONTLINE, The Center for Investigative Reporting, The Investigative Reporting Program at UC Berkeley and Univision. The investigation exposed how female janitors, many of them immigrants, were being sexually abused on the job by male supervisors and how large janitorial companies had failed to protect them.

      The Bicentennial Swedish-American Exchange Fund Swedish-American Exchange Fund 2011 I received a competitive travel grant to support overseas reporting in Sweden exploring how Scandinavia is leading the world in establishing nuclear waste storage solutions. I produced radio and digital stories for KQED and NPR.
