      Visiting Research Assistant

I have had a one-year placement at the University of Leeds in the Leeds Institute of Genetics, Health and Therapeutics under the direct supervision of Professor Helen Philippou. I was involved in establishing new methods to investigate mechanisms of coagulation of fibrinolysis to find new therapeutic targets. I applied some of these novel methods to investigate the effect of small molecules on interfering with processes of blood clot formation and fibrinolysis. I am fortunate to have experienced how early-stage drug discovery occurs in an academic environment. The internship provided a stimulating environment where I was able to interact with a team of investigators but also work independently. I have learned from this experience that I would like to continue working in a research environment and develop further by doing a PhD. I am self-motivated and have been fascinated by my exposure to the field of blood coagulation. I gained good research experience and the desire to undertake a complex scientific role. 收起

I am directly involved in research project management of cardiovascular disease themed projects. Worked both autonomously and as part of an internationally recognised team to achieve objectives set by the spin-out company.
