Span of Control includes a staff of 3,700 comprising 3,050 Full Time Equivalent Employees (FTEs) and approximately 1,000 medical staff members. Scope of control annually includes net revenue of $588 million; nearly 33,000 discharged & observation patients; nearly 3,100 deliveries; over 630,000 outpatient visits; over 417,000 employed physician office visits; over 17,000 surgical cases; and over 110,000 emergency department visits. Accomplishments:• Leadership of a performance improvement program, including a lean/six sigma training initiative.• Development and leadership of a labor management system, resulting in an improvement in productivity of hospital specific staff from the 50th percentile to better than the top quartile versus peer group nationally.• Led staff reductions resulting in over 400 associates and 300 FTEs being eliminated primarily due to improved productivity and planned reductions in force.• Implemented a service excellence program, which has improved inpatient patient satisfaction from the bottom quartile to nearly the 60th percentile for inpatient HCAHPS results.• Led recruitment efforts for nearly 20 physicians in 2012 and 2013.• Improved profitability at AGMC by $19 million to $25 million from 2011 to 2012. Accomplishments:• Lead executive for Akron General Health System's integration into the Cleveland Clinic from affiliation, to full member substitution, and beyond.• Integration of Edwin Shaw Rehabilitation Hospital into Cleveland Clinic Rehabilitation Hospitals, a joint venture between Cleveland Clinic and Select Medical, Inc., including development of a 60 bed replacement facility.• Assisted in the development and implementation of many information technology improvements including: supply chain; inpatient, outpatient, and specialty care clinical documentation systems; and revenue cycle.
